Overview:

The program brings together members of the Abbott Society and faculty and residents of the UCSF Department of Orthopaedics in a collaborative presentation of recent advances and updates in orthopaedic surgery. Our schedule of presentations will address current clinical and research topics that affect clinician decision making in day-to-day practice.

COURSE HIGHLIGHTS

  • Exciting educational program featuring concise 8-minute “hot topic” presentations
  • Interactive panel discussions on Foot and Ankle and Trauma Reconstructions featuring our visiting professors
  • Thursday May 8th – Happy Hour Social following the day’s presentations for networking
  • Friday May 9th – Bones Ball Dinner and Reception at a signature San Francisco landmark – Julia Morgan Ballroom

Objectives:

The purpose of this course is to increase competence and patient outcomes as well as to improve clinical practice in the care of Orthopaedic patients. We specifically anticipate improvements in skills and strategies:

  • To manage lower extremity trauma;
  • To evaluate ankle pain;
  • To utilize different treatment approaches for lower extremity fractures;
  • To consider new/different materials for joint arthroplasty, lower extremity trauma, and ankle and foot fracture treatments;
  • To consider using new/different implants;
  • To adopt procedures that are expected to further minimize complications.
