Overview:

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of California, San Francisco invites you to attend the 51st Annual Advances & Controversies in Clinical Pediatrics, May 31 – June 2, 2018 at the Park Central Hotel, 50 Third Street, San Francisco, California. The program endeavors to provide research, academic, and clinical information in a format that emphasizes the practical application of current concepts relevant to office practice and to professionals involved in the care of children. Pediatric, family practice and emergency room physicians, as well as physician assistants, nurses and nurse practitioners report that they consistently benefit from their participation in this program. Nationally recognized guest faculty will present a series of lectures that are complemented by UCSF faculty and Bay Area experts speaking about a variety of current or controversial pediatric issues, which will ultimately result in better care for children of all ages, infants through adolescents. This year’s course focuses on infectious diseases, emergency medicine, cardiology, neurology, and the opioid crisis.

Accreditation:

The University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine (UCSF) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

UCSF designates this live activity for a maximum of 19.00 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

This CME activity meets the requirements under California Assembly Bill 1195, continuing education and cultural and linguistic competency.

Pain Management and Care for the Terminally Ill: The approved credits shown above include 4.00 credits toward meeting the requirement under California Assembly Bill 487, Pain Management and End-of-Life Care.

Nurses: For the purpose of recertification, the American Nurses Credentialing Center accepts AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. issued by organizations accredited by the ACCME.

Physician Assistants: AAPA accepts category 1 credit from AOACCME, Prescribed credit from AAFP, and AMA Category 1 Credit for the PRA from organizations accredited by the ACCME.

Pharmacists: The California Board of Pharmacy accepts as continuing professional education those courses that meet the standard of relevance to pharmacy practice and have been approved for AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM.

Family Physicians: This Live activity, 51st Annual Advances & Controversies in Clinical Pediatrics, with a beginning date of 05/31/2018, has been reviewed and is acceptable for up to 19.00 Prescribed credit(s) by the American Academy of Family Physicians. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

ABP MOC Credit: Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the activity, with individual assessments of the participant and feedback to the participant, enables the participant to earn 20 MOC points in the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABP MOC credit. IMPORTANT: Learner must complete the online course evaluation in order to earn ABP MOC points. The course evaluation is due 30 days after the last day of the course.
