This is a pre-course to the course: Management of the Hospitalized Patient

Discounted enrollment is available when registering for both the Hospitalist Mini-College (MDM19P01A) and the Management of the Hospitalized Patient (MDM19P01) but you must call the registration office at 415.476.5808 in order to get this discount. See below for discounted enrollment fees.

Important note: If registering for the Hospitalist Mini-College, participants must be credentialed in good standing within an organized medical staff (e.g., hospital or other facility). This allows participants to fulfill the requirements for participating in the pre-course. No exceptions will be made. Once you sign up via our CME site, you will receive a personalized email within 7 days from the Hospitalist Mini-College course coordinator with further instructions to complete your registration. This will involve additional items such as evidence of your credentialing status noted above.

This innovative 3 day pre-course, which precedes the flagship UCSF Management of the Hospitalized Patient course, provides an in-depth and engaging experience for hospitalists who seek clinical skill development. Participants will join faculty at UCSF Medical Center to participate in small-group learning in 4 domains: Critical Care Medicine, Hospital-based Neurology, Surgical Co-Management and Consultation, and Dermatology for the Hospitalist. Attendees will also receive hands-on procedural training (e.g., use of ultrasound guidance) and sessions focused on interpreting radiographic studies, building diagnostic acumen, and enhancing end-of-life communication skills. UCSF designates this live activity for a maximum of 21.50 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. This CME activity meets the requirements under California Assembly Bill 1195, continuing education and cultural and linguistic competency.

Maintenance of Certification: Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 2 1.50 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.

Family Physicians: Application for CME credit has been filed with the American Academy of Family Physicians. Determination of credit is pending.
