Overview:

The intent of the PrEP for Transgender Communities pre-conference is to provide a venue for healthcare providers, front line staff, researchers, and transgender community members to convene and discuss the cutting-edge science and practice of delivering PrEP to transgender people. Featured at this pre-conference will be the PrEP for Transgender Individuals demonstration project initiative funded by the California HIV/AIDS Research Program. The three grantees of this initiative will present their intermediary findings and lessons learned to date. Opportunities for breakout group discussion will provide a platform for sharing strategies for supporting PrEP initiation, adherence, and persistence in different types of clinical and community-based healthcare settings. Finally, we will organize a Materials Exchange, where existing projects that serve transgender communities by developing trans-specific outreach and education materials will be encouraged to bring copies of their materials to exhibit and share. Participants will leave the pre-conference with increased knowledge of the most up-to-date science and on-the-ground best practices for optimizing the impact of PrEP among transgender communities.
