The UCSF Optometry Course is a 7-hour lecture series aiming to share the latest advances in diverse topics within eye care, with the premier goal of presenting scientific yet relevant updates that are applicable to the daily clinical practice of a local optometrist.
The lecturing faculty and staff optometrists of UCSF and San Francisco VA all have varying areas of emphasis in clinic. This year we present topics on anterior segment disease, specialty contact lens fitting, myopia control, choroidal lesions, and– thanks to past feedback– two hours of Glaucoma.
Our phenomenal guest lecturer this year is Gerami Seitzman, MD. An Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at UCSF, Dr. Seitzman specializes in cornea, anterior segment disease, and uveitis. Don’t let her lecture title (“A Very Dry Talk”) fool you– Dr. Seitzman is a lively, down-to-earth, and engaging speaker with abundant experience in tough dry eye cases which can sometimes appear to have no resolution. We are fortunate to benefit from her expertise, and hope you join us in learning her unique approach to successfully helping the dry eye patient.
During breaks, guests are encouraged to visit the booths in the Exhibit Area to learn more about the newest developments in industry.
Due to the high volume of feedback at our 2018 course about the shortage of food and need for more beverages, this year there will be a nominal registration fee to help cover the cost of food, beverages, room rental, and other administrative needs. Registration fee is $100 per person. Registration closes Wednesday March 20, 2019.
If you must cancel, you will receive a 50% refund if you submit your request in writing on or before 3/11/19 to the Office of CME (registration@ocme.ucsf.edu). Unfortunately we cannot offer a refund for requests after 3/11/19.
The location is 525 Parnassus Avenue (UCSF Nursing Building). It will be easiest to enter via 513 Parnassus Avenue and walk up the stairs, through Saunders Court, and enter 525 Parnassus. We will have volunteers help guide the way.
If you have any special needs, dietary requests, or maternal needs, please contact Daphne Chan as soon as you can.
