53rd Annual Verne T. Inman Lectureship 2022

Overview:

This program brings together members of the Abbott Orthopaedic Society and faculty and residents of the UCSF Department of Orthopaedics in a collaborative presentation of recent advances and updates in orthopaedic surgery. Our schedule of presentations will address current clinical and research topics that affect clinician decision-making in day-to-day practice.

COURSE HIGHLIGHTS

• Exciting educational program featuring concise “hot topic” presentations on issues critical to clinical practice
• Panel discussions on spine, foot, and ankle featuring our visiting professors
• Thursday May 12th – Happy Hour Social following the days presentations for networking
• Friday May 13th – Special Lunchtime Session on Innovation in Orthopaedics with 3D Printing (not for CME)
• Friday May 13th – Bones Ball Dinner and Reception

Objectives:

The purpose of this course is to increase competence and improve clinical practice in the care of Orthopaedic patients. We specifically anticipate improvements in skills and strategies to:

• Improve clinical outcomes by optimizing preoperative risk factors;
• Avoid demographic and socioeconomic bias in the utilization of joint replacement surgery;
• Consider use of non-pharmaceutical methods for treatment of pain after pediatric orthopedic surgery;
• Improve clinical outcomes after spine surgery by optimizing preoperative risk factors;
• Optimize when to treat proximal humerus fractures surgically, and by which method, and when to treat these fractures non-operatively.

Accreditation:

The university of California, San Francisco School of Medicine (uCSF) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

UCSF designates this live activity for a maximum of 12.50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits^TM . Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

This CME activity meets the requirements under California Assembly Bill 1195, continuing education and cultural and linguistic competency.

Nursing
For the purpose of recertification, the American Nurses Credentialing Center accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credits^TM issued by organizations accredited by the ACCME.

Physician Assistants
AAPA accepts category 1 credit from AOACCME, Prescribed credit from AAFP, and AMA PRA Category 1 Credits^TM from organizations accredited by the ACCME.
