Overview:

Interstitial lung disease (ILD) is a disease category that encompasses dozens of pathobiologically distinct conditions, and it poses substantial challenges to the practicing physician. There is considerable confusion in the medical community regarding the diagnosis and management of ILD resulting in significant delays in diagnosis and treatment. Treatment options are rapidly evolving with the development of new medications, completion of large clinical trials in various forms of ILD, and an evolving understanding of the role of genetics and environment on disease progression and management. In addition, there is growing recognition that interstitial lung abnormalities (ILAs), or incidental radiologic abnormalities on chest CT that are potentially related to ILD, require special consideration and follow-up as they have been associated with radiologic progression, increased rate of a clinical diagnosis of ILD, and increased rate of mortality. Therefore, this course is designed to provide an up-to-date framework for the diagnosis, management, and monitoring of ILD and to introduce practitioners to the evolving landscape of defining, monitoring, and studying ILAs.

TARGET AUDIENCE
This conference is designed to provide clinicians and other health care providers with a practical approach to the diagnosis and management of ILD, an understanding of the importance of accurate and timely diagnosis, and a treatment approach that is comprehensive and evidence-based.
