EPEC-Pediatrics Professional Development Workshop
An in-person event ADDITIONAL FEE: $890 for MDs / $690 for trainees and other clinicians This 1-day hands-on, small-group workshop (max.5-7 participants per group) is intended to familiarize participants with the theory and practice of adult learning and clinical practice improvement in teaching pediatric pain and palliative care. This is a required course for “Trainers” who wish to become a “Master Facilitator” and opens the possibility to join the EPEC-Pediatrics faculty upon completion. Individuals who want to further enhance their teaching and leadership skills are also welcome to attend. This Workshop will be offered face-to-face only, but participants may opt to attend online via ZOOM if personal or pandemic circumstances change.

Registration for the PDW is open to any EPEC-Pediatrics Trainers who wish to become an EPEC-Pediatrics Master Facilitator. This includes:

  • EPEC-Pediatrics Trainers who have successfully completed a previous Train-the-Trainer course (including completion of the online curriculum), and 
  • Registrants of the current 24th Become an EPEC-Pediatrics Trainer Conference. REGISTER

*We understand that the pandemic has caused significant restriction to in-person educational events. The health and safety of our meeting attendees, faculty, staff, and those that provide infrastructure support at the meeting venue are of primary importance to us. If conditions dictate the course be completely live streamed, your in-person registration/participation will be switched to virtual.

Education in Palliative and End-of-Life Care (EPEC) – Pediatrics Funded from 2010-2017 by a US$1.6 million grant from the US National Institute of Health/National Cancer Institute, EPEC – Pediatrics has become the most comprehensive pediatric palliative care (PPC) curriculum worldwide. To date 1,517 clinicians from 100 countries/ territories from 6 continents have completed training.

The EPEC-Pediatrics curriculum features state-of-the-art knowledge in pain and symptom management and training in the skills required to address key domains for pediatric palliative care. The program is designed to give pediatric healthcare professionals (incl. physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, social workers, psychologists etc.) the knowledge and skills needed to provide excellent palliative care to their patients and their families.

Onsite and Remote Learning Options:
The course will be offered as a live conference at the Grand Hyatt Hotel San Francisco. Registrants have the option to attend in person or to tune in remotely via zoom live stream during programming hours (Pacific Time). Login instructions along with the digital syllabus will be shared with attendees before the meeting. Included in your registration fee is access to the course recordings on demand after the conference and for 30 days after the course. You must tune in to live conference (in person or remotely) to claim CME.
